***Please note this page is under constructions, we will be up and running soon, appologies for inconvinience that might cause.

We are a voluntary group, involving local community in Health Walks around local parks, woodlands and nature reservoirs. The idea behind our walks is to promote physical activity and wellbeing within community, especially people who might be socially excluded.

We engage people in mild activity – Health Walking which is a very low-impact, has a low risk of injuries and is available to almost everyone. Our walks are great opportunity to meet people and socialise, we make it a pleasure and fun, not even mention the health benefits of walking itself!!  We believe the outdoors is a natural medicine, more and more evidence shows that the access to the natural environment improves health and wellbeing, prevents disease and helps people recover from illness.

Besides this walking can help with managing the weight, reducing stress, anxiety and depression, also help sleep better, keeps the heart strong and reduces high blood pressure.

All this for such a small effort – it’s well worth it! So why don’t you try and join us on one of our walks?!

  • Highfield Country Park - meeting every Tuesday and Friday at the Levenshulmes Inspire Centre, Stockport Rd. at 10 am. This walk takes about an hour and is classified as an easy- slow to medium pace walk. At the end of each walk we stop for a hot drink and a chat. Everyone is very welcome and we can adapt the walk for special needs if necessary (stops and shorter routes).

  • Reddish Vale Nature Reservoir and Debdale Park - every Saturday from The Energy Box (Levenshulme High School) opposite Cringle Park. This walk is much longer (2.5 hours), we take Fallowfield Cycle loop towards Reddish Vale or Debdale Park and enjoy the beautiful scenery of those nature reservoirs. There is a longer stop for refreshments and families are welcome to visit the Animal Farm and Stables next to the Reddish Vale reservoir (Farm attraction open from February 2012).

  • Northmoor Road Community Health Walks - dates to be confirmed, please contact us if you interested! This walk will begin from Northmoor Community Centre, through amazing local  parks including Highfield Country Park. Medium pace (1.5 hour), all abilities welcome.

  • Northmoor Community Buggy WalkFriday, once a month commencing from 13th January (during parent and toddler group), please speak to Ulrike at the centrefor more details.

Walking is a brilliant way to regain fitness and lose weight after having a baby and it means that you have to get out and about and it therefore gives you the opportunity of meeting other people, key for many mums who can sometimes feel isolated after the birth of a baby. There is medical evidence that walking helps to release natural endorphins, which will lighten your mood and for some mothers, this can help in reducing the symptoms of post natal depression.

And more to come soon! Please get in touch for more details!
